The Emirates were still in their adolescent years when Ashwin Dhamecha heading a team of construction professionals, established the ASWAN Group in the UAE. The resource pool contained hard won experience in the construction of harbours, industrial plants, public utility projects and specialized civil construction in major cities across India.

The company opened offices simultaneously in Dubai and Sharjah in 1974 and set out with purpose to become part of the construction revolution that would shape the rapidly emergent Emirates. Three decades on, ASWAN has established a fine reputation founded on integrity and professional excellence. Recognition of the company's capability was borne out when it earned the highest level of licensing – Grade I, in the Northern Emirates, providing clearance to construct tower-rated structures.

The company has logged a significant body of work including the Iranian Mosque, Bur Dubai, Dubai Taxi Corp. HQ Ghusais and Dubai Tourist Information Centre on the arterial Sheikh Zayed Road. Diversification became imperative with the real estate boom and ASWAN moved laterally to establish associate units to explore emerging opportunities, resulting in the formation of Aswan Investments and Remaar Real Estate Brokers.
